When will Ferrari win the F1 championship again? Stefano Domenicali shares his thoughts. Stefano Domenicali reflects on Ferrari's difficult moment in Formula 1 .

It has been exactly fifteen years since Ferrari last won the Constructors’ Championship, achieved with Stefano Domenicali at the helm of the Maranello team after Jean Todt’s departure at the end of 2007. Since then, Ferrari has come close several times to breaking the curse, especially with Fernando Alonso in 2010 and 2012, but has never hit the big target. When asked about the matter, the Imola-born manager, now the CEO of Formula 1, tried to give an answer.

Ferrari, when will the championship curse be broken?
“This is a question I cannot answer in my current role,” the CEO began evasively, a guest on the program “La Politica nel Pallone” (Politics in the Ball).

“Obviously, as a fan, I can only cheer for Ferrari, for what I experienced in my 23 years until 2014. I hope it happens soon because it is certainly something everyone wants.” – the Italian manager said.

After taking over from Jean Todt at the end of 2007, Stefano Domenicali left the role of team principal in April 2014, partly due to the unsuccessful project of the F14-T, bidding farewell to the Maranello team after 23 years of honorable service.

Despite almost ten years having passed since the separation, the 58-year-old from Imola is still obviously very attached to the Ferrari brand, especially considering the difficulties in keeping up with two teams like Mercedes and Red Bull, which have literally monopolized Formula 1 in the last thirteen years.

“It is clear that today the competition is different,” Stefano Domenicali adds. “It is a more intense competition, but out of respect, it is not up to me to try to comment on the situation in Maranello. The hope is to see it as soon as possible.” – the former Ferrari boss admitted.

Breaking the curse is the number one goal for Frederic Vasseur, the man tasked, since last January following Mattia Binotto‘s departure, with bringing the prancing horse back to the front and into the role it deserves.

Trying to do so in 2024 will be difficult, considering Red Bull’s enormous technical advantage, but the Frenchman has already laid solid foundations to build on, and it is hoped that the climb can be completed in the shortest possible time.
