A 2023 Formula 1 season that started on the wrong foot for the Prancing Horse has redirected the Maranello team towards new development paths.
The recent updates, including those in Canada and Austria, have put Ferrari on a track that seems to be heading in the desired direction.
The regained competitiveness of the red cars, now considered by many as the second force in the field halfway through the 2023 F1 campaign, has brought serenity and confidence back to Maranello, where they are now working on next year’s car.
Providing the first indications about the Ferrari 2024 is none other than the team principal of the Scuderia, Frédéric Vasseur. The Frenchman spoke about it during the team principals’ press conference on Friday at the Silverstone Circuit on Friday afternoon.
Fred Vasseur assessed the situation of Ferrari, highlighting the shortcomings of the SF-23 at the start of the F1 championship: “We are looking for more consistency and drivability right from the beginning of the season. We started making progress from Barcelona, although it was a difficult weekend there. Now we have taken another step in Austria. We are heading in this direction, we are focused, and we have made two decisive steps. But it’s not over yet, we still have 12 races to face, it will be a long challenge.” – the French manager pointed out.
“The main thing is the budget cap. You can’t start a new project during the season; you have to adapt it. In these conditions, I believe we have made a significant step forward.” – Fred Vasseur continued.
“We must consider that the rules are much more restrictive now. It is very difficult to make big leaps during the year,” the Frenchman added.

“Like everyone else, we are already working on next year’s car, trying to correct the direction,” Fred Vasseur concluded, with a veiled criticism of the current project. The course of Ferrari has already been modified during this season, and it seems that it will change even more decisively for the 2024 Formula 1 car, which will not follow the philosophy brought by former team principal Mattia Binotto.
