Rumors in Italy report that Andrea Agnelli is aiming for Ferrari CEO role. Andrea Agnelli is aiming for Ferrari CEO role.

The bomb at the end of the year is dropped in the Italian newspaper ‘La Verità’ by Gigi Moncalvo, someone who is familiar with things surrounding the Casa Agnelli: “Andrea Agnelli wants to leave Juventus and move to Ferrari” writes in the newspaper directed by Maurizio Belpietro, the author of at least a couple of volumes on the family (“Wolves & Agnelli ” in 2009, “Agnelli Secrets” in 2012). If only it were true. Andrea would be perfect for Ferrari (see Juve where he also replaced his cousin John) and maybe he would call back his old friend Maurizo Arrivabene..

Gigi Moncalvo says that the Juventus president wants to leave Juve and has asked John Elkann for the seat of Ferrari CEO, vacant after Camilleri’s departure. “Andrea Agnelli is not satisfied with being already part of the Exor and FCA Board of Directors, nor the new prestigious position that his cousin magnanimously granted him at the end of September, placing him among the five members of Exor for the board of Stellantis, the company born from the PSA-FCA merger ”, the article informs.

According to Moncalvo, Agnelli would like to leave because “the knots are coming to a head”. The technical ones, but above all the economic ones: “Juve’s next six-month report could certify a gigantic gross debt of 600 million”, such as to force Elkann to open his wallet and send hundreds of millions in Juve, or to bring in a large foreign fund as happened to Milan. Finally, to avoid this scenario, there would be a first step: not to renew Cristiano Ronaldo’s contract, an operation for which Elkann would not want to take responsibility. Also, for the role of CEO of Ferrari, Elkann would be thinking of Alessandro Nasi.

The rumor of an Andrea candidacy had been around for some time. The Juventus president had started his managerial adventure in Maranello looking for partnerships. He had become great friends with Maurizio Arrivabene (who later joined the Juventus board of directors) and had followed a couple of world championships very closely. He has never hidden his love for Ferrari, only beaten by that for Juve. I think it is difficult for John to be able to satisfy him even if the choice would make sense and the 9 league titles in a row with Juve would mean something from a sporting point of view …

Meanwhile, the merger with Psa will be completed at the beginning of the year to give life to Stellantis (where Andrea will sit on the board) then we will have the name of the new CEO of Ferrari.
