The iconic Spa-Francorchamps circuit located in Belgium is renowned for its history and challenging layout, but it is also heavily criticized due to the fatal accidents that have occurred in recent years during Formula 1 support races.
Recently, the CEO of Formula 1, Stefano Domenicali, expressed his confidence in ensuring the presence of the circuit on the Formula 1 calendar, especially after witnessing the passion that fans have for this racing facility and the commitment that organizers put into providing an unforgettable experience for spectators.
Stefano Domenicali sure of returning to Spa Francorchamps in the future
Speaking to Sky Sports, Stefano Domenicali said, “First of all, we will be here again next year. Furthermore, the great thing is to see that Spa has invested in the fans, and this is something that has been requested of all the racetracks we go to.” – the former Ferrari team principal explained.
Indeed, the layout and the breathtaking views around the Belgian racing track have captured the hearts of drivers and fans alike, and Stefano Domenicali himself commented, “I think we will continue to see these landscapes for a long time.” However, despite Spa Francorchamps being a staple on the calendar, many have called for the circuit to be modified, especially in the Eau Rouge and Raidillon sections, following the death of young driver Dilano Van’ T Hoff and the contact involving Ferrari Driver Academy member Arthur Leclerc in Formula 2 during the past weekend at the 7.004-kilometre Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps in Stavelot, Belgium.
