Among them were Carlos Sainz, who stepped into a Williams for the first time, Gabriel Bortoleto and Nico Hulkenberg with Sauber, and Esteban Ocon with Haas. At the wheel of Ferrari, the second-placed team in the Constructors’ Championship, Charles Leclerc participated in testing the 2025 tires, while the other Ferrari was entrusted to Arthur Leclerc and Antonio Fuoco for rookie tests. These sessions allowed Ferrari to evaluate experimental components and give their reserve drivers a chance to deepen their knowledge of the car after months of simulator work.

Lewis Hamilton: no debut yet
Not all drivers switching teams for 2025 had the opportunity to get acclimated to their new environment in advance. Among them is Lewis Hamilton, who did not take part in the tests, either with Mercedes—his former team, where he attended a Petronas commercial event—or with Ferrari, which will become his new home in 2025. As is well known, the seven-time world champion was not given the green light to begin work with Ferrari before the expiration of his Mercedes contract on December 31. His first outing at the wheel of a Ferrari will therefore occur in early 2025, when he officially becomes a Ferrari driver.

The debut date
According to information from a source, Lewis Hamilton is expected to drive a Ferrari (the 2022 F1-75) for the first time on January 22 at Fiorano, utilizing the “Test of Previous Cars” session organized by Ferrari for him. However, this plan may be subject to changes due to unfavorable weather conditions or the need to reschedule events during this tight and challenging period for the teams. This test will be a crucial opportunity for the seven-time champion to familiarize himself—with the car, the steering wheel, and Ferrari’s procedures—in preparation for both his championship debut and the February Pirelli tests, in which Sir Lewis may participate. It will also give him the chance to get to know the Scuderia’s track personnel and experience the historic Fiorano circuit, where many champions before him have driven and created unforgettable moments.
