The Australian Grand Prix, which took place on Sunday at the Albert Park circuit in Melbourne, was marked by several borderline episodes and accidents. One of them involved Scuderia Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc and Aston Martin’s Lance Stroll. Shortly after the start, at the third corner to be precise, the Monegasque tried to overtake the, but forced the maneuver excessively. As a result, the two cars made contact: it went worse for the Ferrari number 16, who got sent out in the gravel and was forced to retire from the race.
Interviewed by SkySportF1 after that moment, Charles Leclerc defined the episode as “a racing incident” immediately pointing out that the North American driver was not at fault. The latter, in a press conference, returned to jokingly talk about the incident in lap 1. We offer you his view considerations below.
The words of Lance Stroll
“Oh, that was nice of him. I’ll buy him a beer!” Lance Stroll joked at the press conference when replying to the reporter who told him about Charles Leclerc’s comment. Looking back on the collision with Charles Leclerc, the Canadian added: “Honestly, it was a race incident, I think. This track is narrow. Approaching turn 3, I braked between him and Fernando (Alonso, ed). I didn’t move, I was crushed in between and then we made contact”, he explained before concluding: “It was a pity for him and a fortune for me that I did not suffer damage”.
