Through the columns of his official website, Gian Carlo Minardi analyzed the main events of the last round of the Formula 1 championship ahead of the summer break, the Belgian Grand Prix, focusing in particular on the absolute dominator of the season, Max Verstappen, and on Ferrari’s positive weekend. Below is an excerpt from his analysis.
Gian Carlo Minardi’s observations
“Max Verstappen’s consistency and composure are impressive. Starting point for Ferrari?” is how Gian Carlo Minardi titles his usual post-race analysis published on his official website.
Regarding the Dutch driver, the manager from Faenza is keen to highlight: “At this moment, he is undoubtedly number one. His consistency and composure in achieving each result are impressive. Even today, he covered a high number of laps within a tenth of a second. We still don’t know the limit of this car, and probably, we never will. He only missed out on the fastest lap in the race, but this time there were no conditions for a last-minute pit stop, something that Lewis Hamilton managed to do in direct challenge with Ferrari.” – he pointed out.
Turning to the performance offered by the Maranello team at the Spa-Francorchamps racing track, Gian Carlo Minardi writes: “The surprise of the weekend was Ferrari, which finished in third place with a great performance by Charles Leclerc. Despite the 32-second gap, the third place can be taken as a sign of recovery or, in any case, as a step to rebuild a season that has been disastrous up to this point. In the constructors’ standings, it has almost caught up with Aston Martin in third place (now the gap is just 5 points), while losing points to Mercedes. The retirement of Carlos Sainz due to the race contact with Oscar Piastri weighed heavily, forcing both to retire (although at different times). A perfect race for Charles Leclerc, who gave 100% (maybe even a bit more) and returned Ferrari to the position it deserves when it avoids mistakes. The 51-point gap from direct rivals Mercedes might seem a lot, but we still have eleven events ahead.” – he concluded
