Ferrari: Charles Leclerc makes unexpected assessment of first half of 2024 F1 season. Charles Leclerc commented positively on the first part of the 2024 season .

Charles Leclerc, Ferrari F1 2024

We have reached the summer break, and Charles Leclerc commented positively on the first part of the 2024 Formula 1 season despite the difficulties: here’s why.

Recently, Charles Leclerc described Ferrari’s situation as a nightmare, but regarding his assessment of the first half of the 2024 Formula 1 campaign, the Monegasque driver expressed satisfaction.

Ferrari started the Championship well, securing two victories: one for Carlos Sainz at the Albert Park circuit in the Australian Grand Prix and one for Charles Leclerc on the streets of Monte Carlo in Monaco. After the race in the Principality, however, the performance of the Maranello team declined, becoming the fourth strongest team, behind Red Bull, McLaren, and Mercedes.

Despite this, the number 16 driver stated: “Our first part of the Championship was really good, we couldn’t have hoped for better.” – he explained.

For Charles Leclerc, the first part of the 2024 Formula 1 season will certainly remain memorable due to the victory at the Monaco Grand Prix, allowing him to fulfill a childhood dream. However, the Monegasque kept his feet on the ground, admitting the Maranello team’s difficulties.

“We maximized the potential of the car. Then we had four races where we used extreme setups. For me, it was impossible to reach qualifying knowing the car’s limit, and so we lost many points.”

At the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, Charles Leclerc returned to the top 3 after George Russell’s disqualification, and it was since the Monaco Grand Prix that he hadn’t finished on the podium. Even in qualifying, he managed to secure the front row, indicating that Ferrari is emerging from the nightmare the Monegasque had spoken of.

The Ferrari driver acknowledged the Maranello team’s difficulties and discussed what needs to be improved. “In the last two races, we focused again on maximizing results, and I think we succeeded, but not quickly enough. So that’s where we really need to work and take a step forward for the second half if we want to achieve better results.” – Charles Leclerc concluded.
