Martin Brundle predicts future Ferrari opportunity for ‘gifted’ Formula 1 driver. Could Carlos Sainz be Ferrari’s future once again?.

Anticipation is building around Lewis Hamilton’s highly anticipated move to Scuderia Ferrari in 2025, a shift that dominated headlines earlier this season and promises to electrify the Formula 1 grid. Fans worldwide are eager to witness the seven-time world champion donning Ferrari’s iconic red overalls as he chases an unprecedented eighth title. However, Lewis Hamilton’s illustrious career is inevitably nearing its conclusion. While Fernando Alonso has demonstrated remarkable longevity in the sport, it remains unlikely that most drivers will extend their careers to such extremes. If Hamilton decides to retire after the 2026 Formula 1 season, Ferrari will face the critical task of finding a worthy successor to carry the torch.

Could Carlos Sainz be Ferrari’s future once again?
Martin Brundle has suggested that the “gifted” Spaniard, who is set to be replaced by Lewis Hamilton at the Italian side, might one day find his way back to the Scuderia. For now, Carlos Sainz is bound for Williams, marking a significant step down in current competitive potential. While it’s disappointing to see a driver of Carlos Sainz’s caliber move to a less competitive team, Williams is on an upward trajectory, making it an intriguing new chapter for him.

Ahead of the Las Vegas Grand Prix, Sky Sports F1 analyst Martin Brundle expressed optimism about Carlos Sainz’s prospects, hinting that his time at Ferrari might not be over forever: “He’s a gifted racing driver and he wants to leave Ferrari on a high. He knows he’s got a chance of going back there one day. He needs to show also, the world, the paddock, and particularly himself, that everybody has made a mistake in not putting him in a front-running car.” – the Sky Sports broadcaster pointed out.

Could Sainz Secure Victory in a Williams?
Carlos Sainz’s upcoming partnership with Alex Albon at Williams sets the stage for one of the most formidable line-ups in the midfield. Both drivers bring valuable experience from competing at the sharper end of the grid, which could play a pivotal role in pushing the team forward. Williams has shown steady progress in recent seasons, and their car development trajectory suggests that the Grove-based squad is on the cusp of a resurgence.

The team’s infrastructure has been undergoing a quiet revolution, laying the groundwork for competitive machinery in the near future. If this upward momentum continues, the fruits of their efforts could materialize in their next generation of cars, making them a potential force to be reckoned with.

By the time 2026 rolls around, Williams may no longer be viewed as just a midfield contender. With Carlos Sainz entering his second season at the team by then, he will have had ample time to adapt and establish himself within the setup. It’s entirely plausible that Williams could emerge as a podium contender by this point, positioning the Spanish driver for a legitimate shot at victory.

While expecting Carlos Sainz to win races as early as 2025 might be premature, history has shown how quickly teams can rise through the ranks—McLaren’s meteoric resurgence being a prime example. Given the right circumstances, it’s far from unrealistic to envision the Spaniard clinching a win in a Williams before long.
